Council members are an important part of the union council system. The Government has distributed the roles and responsibilities of the members of the Union Parishad by issuing a circular dated 10/09/2002, Memorandum No. 3 / Miscellaneous-14/2001/601. The general members of the Union Parishad and the members of the reserved seats have their own responsibilities and duties. Again, there are responsibilities and duties which are jointly performed by the members of the general and reserved seats.
Responsibilities of reserved seat members
The members of the reserved seats made arrangements to ensure the registration of marriages including prevention of violence against women and children, prevention of dowry and acid throwing, prevention of child marriage. He also served as an advisor to the Law and Order Committee and Disaster Management Committee of his ward area.
The members of the reserved seats are the chairmen of one-third of the standing committees of the Union Parishad and the chairmen of one-third of the total project committees.

The responsibility of the members of the general seat

The joint responsibility of the members of the reserved and general seats
Encouraging the people to take part in various income generating projects / activities to increase agricultural production in the respective ward areas, he recommended to the Union Parishad to take up development projects in these areas.
He created projects in the respective ward areas to educate the people about illiteracy, family planning, public health and primary health care. Assists in the implementation of the project if adopted. Assists in the management of the first aid center run by the Union Parishad.
Public property in the concerned ward area such as roads, highways, government places, open spaces, parks, playgrounds, cemeteries, crematoriums, meeting places, monuments, roads, pools, bridges, culverts, dams, canals, bills, telephones, electricity, gas etc. Arranges for conservation.
Encourage the people to build and use hygienic latrines in the respective ward areas.
Provides encouragement and support for sports development, library, library arrangements and arrangements for national festivals and physical exercises and cultural activities in the respective ward areas.
Concerned ward people are aware of natural disasters in the area.

He urged the locals to send their primary school children to school in the respective wards.
Relevant wards motivate the people to pay taxes, rates, fees, etc. of the area and assist the Union Parishad in controlling and maintaining the cattle pens.
